Accommodation in Tibet
You'll spend most nights of your Tibet holiday in atmospheric Tibet accommodation characteristic to the area you're travelling through. The quality of hotels in Tibet has improved significantly in larger cities such as Lhasa and Shigatse. In these cities you'll spend the night in comfortable hotels with your own private facilities, with an authentic Tibetan atmosphere.
Naturally, the more off-road you get during your Tibet trip, the more primitive the accommodation. Instead of staying in hotels you'll stay in guest houses and at times you'll have to share the facilities. This is a great setting for an adventurous Tibet trip through the Himalayas!

Tibet Accommodation - Comfort Levels
At China Travel Plan we rate our accommodation with comfort levels of 1 through 5. Take a look at our China accommodation page to find examples and descriptions of this rating system. Our ratings are not official star ratings.
In most cases, accommodation mentioned in our Tibet trips are rated with a 3. This indicates that the accommodation is well maintained, comfortable, has a shower and toilet but doesn't have any unnecessary 'frills'. Occasionally you will come across accommodation in Tibet rated with a 2. We do not offer any accommodation in Tibet with level 1 or 4.
- Comfort level 3
A warm and inviting atmosphere, small-scale charm, comfort, cleanliness and a favourable location are all the main features of this category. This is the most common level of accommodation found in Tibet and you'll stay in this level of Tibet accommodation during our Lhasa trip.
Privacy is also important at this level, so we'll book a private room and your own en-suite bathroom for you as well. Most of the accommodation offered by China Travel Plan falls within this category.
- Comfort level 2
Sometimes when deciding where to stay in Tibet, there aren't as many options, or accommodation isn't as important as what you'll experience when you step out of your front door. Our simple accommodation category offers you modest, yet reasonably comfortable accommodation options. You'll have your own room, often with shared toilet. Keep in mind that this type of accommodation can also get quite cold. Warm water may not always be available and electricity may falter at times. However, there are always extra warm blankets to cuddle up under and a crackling fire to sit next to.
You'll stay at a simple guest house during our Himalayas tour.
