Day 2: BeijingToday you'll have a chance to discover Beijing with your driver and English-speaking guide. You'll be picked up at your hotel around 8:30 in the morning. The first stop is Tian'anmen Square: the gateway to heavenly peace. After a stop you'll visit the Temple of Heavenly Peace (entrance fee 35 Yuan, approximately £3.50) and the colourful Lama Temple (entrance fee approximately £2.50). |

Back at Tian'anmen you'll be able to get a quick bite to eat and then you and a guide will visit the Forbidden City (open until 4pm, entrance fee approximately € 6). After you've seen all you want to see your guide will help you catch a taxi back to your hotel. Be sure to always bring along one of the hotel's business cards while visiting China as your taxi driver may not be able to understand English. As its name indicates, Peking Duck comes from Peking (Beijing). If you wish, we can reserve a table for you at the restaurant that prepares the best Peking duck recipe in town. Your guide will take you to the restaurant and the chef will personally place the duck on your plate. A delicious Chinese delicacy! |

Day 3: Beijing - Great Wall of China tourThe Great Wall should be a part of every China holiday package. A hike over the wall from Jinshanling is the most enjoyable way to get a sense of the vastness of the Great Wall of China. The 10km hike is quite strenuous; you'll be climbing and descending for about 4 hours over restored and original wall segments. Another less demanding alternative would be an excursion to the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu, where you can take a cable car up to the top and toboggan ride back down - lots of fun, especially if travelling with children. |
Day 4: Beijing - Xi'anOn the fourth day of your China holiday package, we'll make arrangements for you to fly to China's ancient capital, Xi'an. If you would like to visit the Summer Palace in the morning, a beautiful estate where the emperor's family once spent their holidays 40 minutes from Beijing, please let us know and we'll arrange for you to catch a later flight to Xi'an. You could also choose to take the night train from Beijing to Xi'an, it would take you about 12 hours. In Xi'an your transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel. You'll stay in a hotel in the heart of the city near the famous Bell Tower. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish and to explore the city. The large boulevards will beacon you and before you know it you'll be visiting the Bell Tower or the nearby Drum Tower. If you arrive here around 5pm you'll not only have a wonderful view of the city, you'll also see a kettle drum demonstration- this is sure to be a real highlight of your China trip in Xi'an. |
|
|
Day 5: Xi'an - Terracotta Army excursionYou'll be picked up at 9am this morning for a visit to one of the most popular attractions on this China holiday package; The Terracotta Army. The excavation site is located in a park about 40 minutes from the city of Xi'an and was discovered in 1974 by farmers. They found approximately 7000 clay soldiers, clay horses and clay chariots, which were commissioned by the then 14 year old king Zheng for his future royal tomb. |

The noise and crowds most definitely spoil the tranquillity and uniqueness of this experience. On this China holiday package, we'll arrange a transfer to take you from the airport to the charming town of Yangshuo, about two hours from the airport. This is probably one of the few places on your China holiday where foreign tourists outnumber Chinese tourists. There's a very laid-back atmosphere here and you'll find it easy to get to know new people. |
