About China Travel Plan
China Travel Plan is a small specialist internet based tour operator, offering you a unique way of travelling around China. Our China travel specialists will help you build your own trip using our bite-sized China trips or our suggested holidays in China and will assist you in having complete control of your China holiday's final itinerary. China Travel Plan is part of Rickshaw Travel, an online adventure tour operator made by travellers for travellers. Our trips are very individual, and you won't be part of a large coach tour but instead you'll independently travel by trains, buses, private car, planes, and sometimes minibus to explore the country in your own time. We also like to give something back to local communities, which is why we sponsor various charity projects. See our responsible travel page for more information. We're able to keep our prices low because we don't produce flashy brochures or run luxury shops. However you're more than welcome to visit our China Travel Specialists while you're planning your China trip. We are based in Brighton, on the South Coast and we're the sister company of round the world travel specialists, Travel Nation. |
Sophia FadilChina Travel SpecialistI have just recently returned from a China trip booked through China Travel Plan and it certainly was the trip of a lifetime! Naming the favourite part of my trip is impossible, as I saw and did so much during my 3 weeks in the country.Seeing the Great Wall of China with my own eyes was one of the most memorable parts as was the Terracotta Army, which is even more amazing in real-life! Seeing the Giant Pandas in Chengdu meant I was able to hold a baby panda in the Panda Breeding Research Centre, which is one of my top moments! Southern China was a different experience altogether and was the perfect place to relax after the big cities. Both relaxing in the beautiful Karst Mountain region of Yangshuo and the rice terraces of Ping’an, I was amazed by the stunning scenery! And, if you are a bit of a foodie like me, China is sure to be a travel experience you will remember forever! |

Laura ClarkSenior China Travel SpecialistAsia is just so captivating, with its friendly people, amazing landscapes and fusion of ancient traditions and modern life, nowhere encapsulates this more than China, a country so diverse and fascinating.Highllights of my time in China include the beautiful tiger leaping gorge trek, seeing giant pandas, the terracotta warriors and of course taking in some pretty amazing food along the way! Walking along a deserted part of the Great Wall on a beautiful spring day ranks as one of my most memorable travel experiences ever. |
Arida AdamouSenior China Travel SpecialistI have travelled extensively since the late ‘80’s and have always had a particular pull towards Asia. The exotic landscapes, frenetic cities, culture, religion, food and of course the people all come together to create a certain magic and mystery that really captivates. I have spent a lot of time in India and South East Asia, but never quite made it to China/Tibet which had been on my ‘destination wish list’ for many years until earlier this year (2011).In April I went to Beijing and it was great to have a local guide to show me the highlights of the city. The Great Wall was just as spectacular as I’d hoped it would be. I also visited Xi’an and the Terracotta Warriors before taking the high altitude ‘oxygen train’ across the high plateau to Lhasa in Tibet. I travelled overland (Lhasa to Nepal) and if some of the accommodation was basic, the landscape and people made up for it. The Tibetan people have a lot of natural charm and are very welcoming. The unforgettable Potala Palace was glittering in all its glory in the sunshine after snowfall the previous night. I confess I did struggle with the altitude, but was very happy to make it to Everest Base Camp. This experience does not involve a long trek, but is absolutely breathtaking in more ways than one!! I would love to head back to Lhasa and spend some more time there and also head deeper into more rural regions of China |

Haydn WrathManagerChina Travel Plan is run by Haydn Wrath.I left the University of East Anglia in 1984 and escaped what seemed a very grim England by spending the rest of the 1980s travelling independently and working myself round the world. During this time I put in some usual stints as an English teacher in Tokyo, a landscape gardener in Sydney and a tarmac layer's assistant in Alaska. In 1990, I joined Bridge the World Travel Centre in London as manager of the World-wide department, where I was able to put my degree in Politics and Philosophy to good use. I fulfilled my ambition to set up a specialist travel company in 2001 when I founded Travel Nation, and later in 2007 set up Rickshaw Travel and China Travel Plan. I have travelled independently to China a few times, and am always utterly amazed by the people and the atmosphere there. China has so much going for it, and the Olympics showed that they certainly know how to put on a good show. Of course, in common with so many other visitors, when I'm in China, I am in food paradise...especially that Crispy Peking Duck they do... |
