Day 1: Arrival in Yangshuo In order to reach Yangshuo's karst mountains, you’ll fly to the city of Guilin first. Many travel organisations book hotel accommodation in the large city of millions, Guilin, and arrange a boat ride on the Li River on to Yangshuo. This may sound like fun; however more than 50 double- deck boats filled with Chinese tour groups go up and down this River each day. Instead of being able to enjoy the splendour of nature all around you, you would most likely be distracted by the cacophony of ship horns honking and very loud tour groups shouting over the river. |

Day 2: Yangshuo - bike, bamboo boat excursion Yulong River Today a bike tour and bamboo boat ride are on the agenda. We'll arrange a bike, a boat and an English-speaking guide for you. He will tell you more about life in the area and will bike and sail along with you. You'll travel in a small group today along with other Western travellers. |
|
Day 3: Yangshuo Today you’ll have the entire day to spend as you please; there is plenty to do in this area. You can rent a kayak from the hotel, spend another day on a bicycle to explore the area on your own or you can even take Kung Fu lesson for an hour. We'll gladly give you more options. |

Day 4: Yangshuo - Guilin (optional - Ping'an) Many travellers decide to add the Rice terraces and Zhuang villages module to their trip. If you decide to do this as well you’ll drive to Ping' An, about three hours from Yangshuo, where you’ll stay in a traditional village with wooden houses in the middle of the mountains. The rice paddies surrounding the village are the largest and highest altitude rice paddies in the world. If you're strapped for time and can't visit Ping' An, you’ll fly from Guilin to your next destination. Usually this will either be Shanghai or Guangzhou, before travelling on to Hong Kong, where your China trip will end. A visit to the tropical beach of Hainan is also possible with a lay-over in Guangzhou (Canton). |

Best time to visit Yangshuo The best time to visit Yangshuo's karst mountains is from April until November. January and February are the coldest months and June, July and August are the wettest months. During this time of the year Yanshuo is green and lush and farmland and rice paddies are full of crops that will be harvested in the month of August. The harvesting of the crops is a wonderful sight to see.
